RESTARTS AT THE TABERNACLE IN SEPTEMBER 2021
The Ballet School, Notting Hill started life in 2002 with just four pupils in the playroom of a house on Westbourne Park Road. Over a decade on it is now a thriving mecca for all budding ballerinas in the Notting Hill area and beyond! It all began as a result of Claire Mcnicholl’s search for a teacher for her ballet-mad 2 year old, Estée. She was introduced to Vanessa (who at the time was freelancing for the Royal Academy of Dance) through a mutual friend. A couple of classes and a huge amount of lattés later The Ballet School Notting Hill – and a great friendship – was born! The school offers tuition in classical ballet for children aged two and half and up. Our aim is to give each child the opportunity to develop self-confidence, poise, co-ordination and musicality in a fun, creative yet highly professional environment. All our teachers are CRB checked, qualified professionals and a pianist accompanies each class.
Classes
The Ballet School follows the Royal Academy of Dance system of training. Classes are thirty minutes to two hours depending on the age and level of each child. Enrollment is on an ongoing basis and can be completed at any time during the year. However, students will not be allowed in any dance class without prior registration as we do have waiting lists for most of our classes – queue-jumping is a no-no! Although our key emphasis is on enjoyment and fun, regardless of ability, a child with a desire and talent to pursue a career as a professional dancer would have every opportunity to do so. The training each child will receive at The Ballet School will serve as an excellent basis for subsequent vocational training. Expert advice is on offer as to the audition process for both vocational schools and associate programmes.
