Politics Summit 2019: Globalism vs Nationalism in the Digital Age

politics.jpg

Nationalism and far-right movements are rising around the world. Some see this as a direct backlash against globalism and globalisation which critics say has not delivered for ordinary people.

What is really going on? How can people respond to these new divisions? How have digital technologies - social media, big data, and tools for mass communication - shaped this new state of affairs?

Join us at Politics Summit 2019: Globalism vs Nationalism in the Digital Age to discuss these issues with fellow citizens and leaders in government, business, tech, civil society, academia, and the media.

The agenda will be a mix of keynote speeches, panel discussions, networking sessions, and entertaining performances. Full details, including the speaker line-up, will be shared over the next few weeks.

Previous speakers at Politics Summit 2017 and 2018 include Joshua Wong (campaigner and Nobel Peace Prize nominee), Lord Clement-Jones (former Chair, House of Lords Select Committee on Artificial Intelligence), Chi Onwurah MP (Shadow Minister for DCMS), Kenneth Cukier (Senior Editor, The Economist), Jamie Bartlett (award-winning author of The People vsTech, The Dark Net), Symeon Brown (Reporter, Channel 4), Sophia Adams Bhatti (The Law Society), Richard Lloyd (Leader of Google You Owe Us, & former Executive Director, Which?), Eshaan Akbar (Piccadilly Comedy Club new Comedian of the year), Jason Lee-Moyer (General Secretary, Independent Workers Union Great Britain), and Toni Cowan-Brown (Vice President, Change.org).

Previous attendees include senior representatives from UK Parliament, EU Parliament, multinational tech companies, major media publications, top universities, FTSE100 companies, law firms, policy-makers, entrepreneurs, and prominent campaigning organisations.

Politics Summit 2019 is the third annual summit organised by The Fourth Group, a public advocacy group established to shape the fourth industrial revolution for all, leaving nobody behind.
