SORRY FOR MY ENGLISH

Written and directed by Aleksandr Spilevoj

Starring: Catalina Cazacu, Dariia Gomez Chakon, Vanda Konisevich, Vadim Korolev, Gladston Mahib, Stefani Elizaveta Burmakova, Albina Sirchenko; Artistic Director: Ivan Vyrypaev; Playwright and Director: Aleksandr Spilevoj; Costume Design: Elizaveta Borodinova; Lighting Design: Alexey Poluboyarinov; Composer: Vadim Korolev; Producers: Maksim Volkov, Sara Tokina

Imagine being forced away from the country you were born in. The first challenge is to live, then create in a second language. Sorry for My English reflects the bittersweet beauty (and often hilarious quirks) of trying to voice love and loss in words that are unfamiliar.

The performance blends monologues, poetry, music and movement, drawing on original texts written by the performers themselves all of whom are living in exile because of who they are or what they have stood up for.

Created and performed by artists in exile from across the world, Sorry for My English turns linguistic imperfection into a stand up comedy-cum-theatrical performance to connect English-speaking audiences together and share in the difficulties of creating in a foreign language.

Raw, funny and deeply moving, Sorry for My English is about the most human of all experiences: belonging.

Portobello Panto Presents: The Lion The Witch and The Westway

Notting Hill’s beloved Panto is making its annual return to the Tabernacle this Winter with the snowtacular: The Lion, The Witch and the Westway

The Portobello Panto began more than 30 years ago in a pub on the Portobello Road. Since then, it has raised hundreds of thousands of pounds for local charities. Despite the ample glitz, at its core the Panto is a community event that brings together artists, performers and children from the local area to have fun, entertain the crowds and raise money for good causes. As ever, the Panto is reliant on the work of volunteers to get the show on the road.

After our 2024 production, Peterbello Panto. raised almost £13,000 for our charities, this year we are raising money for the Shepherd’s Bush Families Project, The 240 Project and West London Welcome. The funds raised every year for these organisations are vital at the best of times. With that in mind, we’re determined to raise as much as possible this year.

If you would like to also donate to our Ko-Fi to help fund the show the link is below:

CAM

In 2025, multi-platinum, GRAMMY-winning artist and songwriter Cam’s voice resonates louder than ever, contributing songwriting, production, and backing vocals to Beyoncé’s genre-shattering album COWBOY CARTER. Her significant involvement on COWBOY CARTER secured Cam her second GRAMMY® nomination and first win as a songwriter for Album of The Year.

In addition to her big year with Beyoncé, Cam was also a featured artist and songwriter on 070 Shake’s latest album PETRICHOR (2024) and is now preparing for the anticipated release of her new body of work with RCA Records in 2025.

Prolific and adored, Cam stepped into the spotlight in a big way with her critically acclaimed full-length debut, Untamed. The record not only bowed in the Top 15 of the Billboard Top 200 and registered at #2 on the Top Country Albums Chart, but it also yielded her the breakthrough #1 smash “Burning House.” It went triple-platinum, notched GRAMMY®, ACM, and CMA award nominations, and remains one of the best-selling country songs by a female solo artist since its release.

For her critically acclaimed sophomore release, The Otherside, she once again enlisted producers Tyler Johnson (Harry Styles, Miley Cyrus, SZA) and Jeff Bhasker (Kanye West, Alicia Keys). The record featured the international Jolene-in-reverse hit “Diane,” the undeniable jam “Till There’s Nothing Left,” plus songwriting from Avicii, Harry Styles, Jack Antonoff, and Sam Smith. In addition to penning five songs for Beyoncé’s COWBOY CARTER album (“AMERIICAN REQUIEM,” “PROTECTOR,” “DAUGHTER,” “TYRANT,” “AMEN”), Cam has also lent her songwriting to superstars like Miley Cyrus, Diplo, and Sam Smith.

She has consistently sold out shows across the globe, cementing her status as an international powerhouse on stage. From the coveted sunset slot at Stagecoach to top venues across five continents, in recent years, she has been one of the few country acts to play Lollapalooza, ACL Fest, and Outside Lands while also supporting acts like Sam Smith, Harry Styles, George Strait, Loretta Lynn, the Indigo Girls, Eric Church, Tim McGraw, and Faith Hill.

A vivid storyteller, clever wordsmith, and committed visionary, fans have only just begun to scratch the surface of Cam’s many facets. As she bravely steps into her next era, she’s welcoming everyone into a space that’s inclusive, invigorating, and inspiring.

Dina Rubina "New Heroes, New Mysteries, New Fates"

A Literary Performance in London

On June 10, we invite you to a unique evening in London with Dina Rubina — an acclaimed writer and screenwriter whose books have won international awards and, most importantly, the hearts of readers across the globe.

Dina Rubina’s literary performance is true one-woman theatre. No one reads her stories better than she does — her voice brings them to life with remarkable range and nuance. With her mastery of voices, accents, characters, and intonations, one might easily believe she’s a trained stage actress. But in truth, the vibrant gallery of characters she embodies so vividly is simply a gift — a natural talent of Dina Rubina.

“Any serious writer experiences everything their characters go through — hatred, love, confessions, illness, passion, birth, death. It’s a blood bond, I would even say an intimate one,” says Dina Rubina about the heroes of her books.

This evening promises to be a dazzling literary event, filled with Rubina’s inimitable texts, tones, and layered meanings — a mix of sharp wit and piercing insight. In other words, everything we love about her prose.

As a special treat, the audience will hear excerpts from her latest work Designer Zhorka. The second part of the novel, titled The Girls, is about to be released, while the first part, The Boys, was published last year and has already won over readers.

Dina Rubina is a writer and screenwriter, the author of more than 40 books translated into numerous languages, including Cold Spring in Provence, On the Sunny Side of the Street, Syndicate, Behold, the Messiah Comes!, High Water in Venice, Sunday Mass in Toledo, Camera Moves In!, and many others. Her works have received multiple prestigious literary awards and recognitions.

Recommended age: 16+
Approximate duration: 1 hour 30 minutes
Venue: The Tabernacle, Notting Hill, 35 Powis Square, off Portobello Road, London
